Aspen Mountain EAST SIDE (NOTE: THIS PAGE IS LARGE!)

Back

Aspen Mountain, east side, from SF Phospates to the local gas company's transmitter.

Sarting with the furthest back transmitter, it is used by SF Phosphates, the fertilizer plant southeast of Rock Springs on WYO430.

And now, the aircraft radar station.

This is an FAA Aircraft Radar station that is considered ACTIVE which means it can detect quite a bit of aircraft and even vehicles. What I'm suprised at is the fact that its so easy to access that, well you know what I'm talking about....

Moving west

The this tower hosts Sweetwater County Mutual Aid (frequencies available on Wyscanner)   and 2 Amatuer Radio repeaters (ditto).

This next tower (to the west of the one before) serves a local utility company. I was unable to determine which or what freq it uses.

Continuing west from the previous tower we see this one along with a fallen tower seen below. This tower I presume is the one FMC or one of the trona mines uses. You can look the frequencies up for this on Wyscanner

This tower has been down for quite some time. No word about who uses it or what it was for. It is just to the west of the tower before.

Southwest Bell (Local service tower) Repeater on just west of the tower above. This building actually services two towers but we dont have enough space to show the other, sorry!

Seeing as how we keep going west (duh!) here is a brand new tower used by the Department of the Interior and the US Forest Service (WOW!). Want proof of what I just said? heres what is on the door.

For some reason I do not have a picture of the Wyoming Highway patrol tower! Grrr! Dont worry, I'm going to Aspen in the spring so I'll get it again.
