Ell, the holiday dx season has begun. These are my first new stations since I got KSTP 12/30/08.
I started out at the bottom of the dial and immediately heard:
570 KVI Seattle, WA 5/5kW N/T/AH
They were playing Best of Coast to Coast at about 9:30 pm. Heard commercials for Seattle area businesses. I feel like I should of heard this before but I guess I didn't have it.
790 KSPD Boise, ID 1/.061kW Religious
This was a station I dont really believe I heard because of the low power but I got a clear ID at 10:00 pm. They had some womens religious program on and then they IDed with KABC in the background. The ID was shockingly clear considering the 1/.061kW, said "KSPD Boise" so there was no doubt. There must have been some weird atmospheric anomoly or the station power data is wrong. Stu, can you see if you can hear this station or are their SLC stations that would block it?
I will check it but chances are they are running 1kw full time or something. It happens a lot. Day light savings screws up a lot of transmitters making them stay on day power longer.
Ellll, welcome back to the DX!
As far as 790, its an open frequency here, I should try for that station one of these nights.
So long to Flagstaff DX, officially retires as soon as stu tells me to do so.
"I won, you losht, get ushed to it shon"
Danny Glovershh - Shhootersh.
Two more stations this evening, both from Southern California.
1540 KMPC Los Angeles, CA 50/37kW Asian, Ided as Radio Korea at 9 pm. I was like ell I can hear Korea!!! until I found out there is an LA station calling itself Radio Korea.
1220 KHTS Canyon Country, CA (Near Santa Clarita and Magic Mountain and Wuss' favorite roller coaster GOLIATH!!!!!!) 1/.5kW Adult Contemporary. Was broadcasting an LA Kings hockey game when I heard it. It is an LA Kings affiliate.
Heard the ID at the 10 pm hour here, 11 pm SLC time. This station must be directional because it would sound really clear then fade to nothing, but luckily it was clear at the top of the hour. Fox Stu radio.
