Disney's Miracle, Reviewed

Kurt Russel, with very good makeup.

Everyone has probably heard of the big winter Olympic victory for the United States over the Soviet Union in 1980, as far as hockey goes. This story, is that story. As if Disney doesn't have enough movies about hockey, i.e. The Mighty Ducks Series. This one is not half bad though, it too has flaws as does every movie. Why you say do I want to pick on this movie? Lets see, I'm not familiar with the director, only one actor in the film is well known (Kurt Russell) and the story is decent enough, what the hell am I talking about...

Lets talk about the direction in this movie. Miracle's director is Gavin O'Conner. First off, I've never heard of him. He has worked on such films as The Glass House (as "Don") and others most of us have never heard of. For a complete list of his films check this site out. Anyhow, he does a fine job with this film. The beginning, if not the whole movie, is one big thing about how great America is. I believe this was probably his idea originally, to make a movie about something good America accomplished and all the crap it went through in the 70s.

Acting is always tough to judge and it is yet again with this film. Most of the cast has never acted in major motion pictures before so its not surprising there are flaws. Kurt Russell's makeup job is pretty decent. He does look very much like the real guy that he portrays. His acting is top notch as usual, so expect it to be decent. His wife does a good job too. I suppose this is from a good script.

Speaking of script, this movie does have good continuity, I didn't see any obvious errors with it. The story is predictable, as most Disney films are, and if you don't want to know about the ending skip the next sentence. Yes, the USA wins as they did in real life, and as you can expect from most Disney films, it is pretty well done, besides the fact that it is predictable as hell.

Overall I was pleased with this film, it was very well done for Disney, seeing as how I despise most of the products they put out. This movie goes in the good Disney section, cause I aint got any complaints....beeyatch.
