Casper DX - December 2024

Hea, Last night while at the Wahs for Boymas, I busted out my Eton radio with the loop and started DXing around sunset. I was trying for the 690 Asian out of Minnesota but instead heard some others. Here are the stations I got on 12/23/24.

I was hearing an old crusty guy on 690 spouting a bunch of Christian stuff and how I am going to hell and all that shit if I don't think and act like him. I was checking the other 690s for religious stuff using their online stream and no matches. Then I got a helpful hint from The Stuboy recommending to check 690 KGGF, Coffeyville, KS, 10/5, Talk. Turns out their online stream was a match! Thanks for the DX tip Stu.



Then I was on 1300 trying for a Nebraska station and kept hearing a guy saying your listening to 1300 Patriot Radio. This can only be 1300 KAKC, OK, Tulsa, OK, 5/1/ Talk. I verified it online stream.



Finally I tuned it to 1510 to see if I could hear classic hits from South Dakota. Didn't hear classic hits but I heard the Dave Ramsey show and then some promos saying buisness radio. I online stream confirmed I was hearing 1510, KFNN, Mesa, AZ 20/0.10 Business. This is only the second AZ station heard in Casper. I think tonight on Boymas Eve I might try for more AZ stations.

Hea. Yesterday, 12/24/24 I got one station at the Wahs. We went out to have some beers at some local breweries, shoutout to Mountain Hops Brewery and Stahoo Brewery in Casper, and when we came back, it was about 1630 in time. I fired up the Eton and heard some classic rock flatch going on 830. I quickly checked the online stream and confirmed it was 830 KDRI, Tucson, AZ, 50/1, Classic Rock. Hea.

Hea, Yesterday, Boymas Day 12/25/24 was a whirl wind DX day. In the morning at the Wahs I went through the Sheridan DX and compared to Casper and wrote down some more high powered stations I should be able to hear here. That included some daytime DX potentials from Colorado and Montana. The first couple are in order of received.

Up first, The Own and I went up the mountain to cross country ski up at the nordic trails and I decided to go for 1060, KRCN, Longmont, 50/0.11 Religious. We could barely hear it at the Wahs but once we got up on top it was coming in fairly good. We confirmed it with the nearby SDR too.



Next back at the Wah's during the day, I got 1120 KCRN, Limon, CO, 50/0 Religious. It was coming in fairly strong in the Wahs room.



Later in the afternoon I was able to hear oldies and Christmas music on 680 and confirmed it was 680 KKGR, E. Helena, MT, 5/0, Oldies



The rest of the following stations were heard around sunset and later the evening and confirmed via online stream, SDR or ID was heard.

960 KFLN, Baker, MT, 5/0.091, Country



880 KHAC, Tse Bonito, NM, 10/0.43, Native American



890 KDXU, St. George, UT, 10/10, N/T

860 KNAI, Phoenix, AZ, Regional Mexican, 0.94/1



The last one was barely coming in but regional mexican was heard behind Pittsburg and the French speaking station (probably SK) and confirmed via Flagstaff SDR

Yesterday,12/26/2024, wasn't as a record of DX day but a strong one never the less. Out of the 5 stations received only 2 were on the list I made a couple of days meaning 3 were nice surprises. All of these were confirmed online using SDR since the stupid Radio-Locator.com was still out of uses from Boymas Day.
