Northern Arizona - July 2009 FM and AM DX

Postby Kaing of Kaings » July 23rd, 2009, 1:28 pm

That's right. In case you haven't noticed, I am back on the DX circuit since I suddenly have more time on my hands. Not only am I back in the AM dx game with a new strategy, I am coming the FM airwaves for good DX.

First up, some FM results from today (July 23, 2009). I confirmed some of the translators Stuboy put up on my FM DX list.

K208AB 89.5 Flagstaff KJZZ
K214DT 90.7 Flagstaff Religious
K228XO is a translator for the 101.5 KZON that plays shitty hip hop
K280BU was a bleed from 103.7 KZGL. Nothing else was on that station.

Today while driving around for errands, I got 3 new FM Stations.

92.3 KTAR, Glendale, AZ - N/T

92.5 KTHQ, Eagar, AZ - Country

94.3 KDDL, Chino Valley, AZ - Country

But wait! There's More!
Now for an AM station I picked up last night using my new strategy.

570 KLAC, Los Angeles, CA - Sports

I have also done some recounts on my AM DX log and found the following map changes that need to be made. CA is now 65, tied with AZ with the new station and a previous unmarked station.

Nevada should be 17 stations instead of 16. Other than that, it looks fine. Hopefully I can get to 300 before I have to leave here.

Ell, the best thing about getting a new job somewhere else is that you can start dxing a new area. If you do get a job in WI the dxing is quite different, you can here Atlanta to New York and Boston, to Denver to New Orleans to Winnipeg. You will hear French broadcasts out of Quebec and a lot less Mexi stations.

Yea, it would be nice not to hear so many Mexican stations although French would be hard to translate. Yea, the Sheboygan job will be cool if it comes through. I would be able to pick up a lot of the Appleton stations you got.

Ell, that would be cool if you lived in WI. Here is my dx list from when I was in WI 4 years ago: http://www.angelfire.com/mt2/rmwdx/newiscdx.html
Give you an idea of what I heard over a week of vacation. Sad to say my dx records from 16-18 years ago no longer exist.

Sounds familiar, Samantha pooped on my Casper map, and now I have no idea what I actually heard when I was there.

Thankfully with the internet my dx records will not be lost this time. Unless angelfire decides to delete my pages.
