The Best (and Worst) Movies of 1988

Postby Kaing of Kaings » November 21st, 2016, 4:48 pm

1998 was a decent year for film. Only 3-five star movies but many 4 stars for that year. It was the year we were introduced to John McClane and Nakatomi Plaza. It was the year that "Yippie Kay Yea, Mother Fucker" Came into our vernacular in Die Hard, a masterful action thriller that they just don't make anymore. It was also the year that my brother and I saw The Land Before Time in the theater. I think it might be the first time I cried in the theater when little foots mom died (or was it Bambi's mom dying). Either way, I still get choked up to this day when I see that film. It was also the year the comic genius of the Naked Gun was born. Let's count them down.

The Best of 1988

1. Die Hard*- (Die Fard with Alegra)
2. The Naked Gun* - (The Naked Bum)
2. (Tie) The Land Before Time*- (The Own before Time)
3. Big - (Tom Hanks gets sucked up into a small child)
4. Beetlejuice- (Still Tim Burton's best)
5. Cocoon: The Return - (The Old Farts return and Wilfred Brimley eats Oatmeal)
6. Scrooged -(Merry Boymass Indeed)
6. (Tie) Willow - (Willows small balls defeat an empire)
7. Who Framed Roger Rabbit - (Who Framed Roger's balls)
8. Talk Radio - (Some of the most intense film making you can watch and it all happens in the radio room)
8. (Tie) Rain Man - (K-Mart Sucks)
9. Mississippi Burning - (Gene Hackman and Wilem Dafoe kick KKK ass)
10. Gorillas in the Mist - (Ripley in the Mist)
10. (Tie) The Beast of War - (Jason Patrick farts on the Afghans from above)
10. (Tie) The Milagro Beanfield War - (Lupida the pig farts all over a NEw Mexican Town)

Naaaaaaahhhhhhh-(We'll miss you Alan Rickman-RIP)

Best TV:

1. The Wonder Years - Season 1 & 2

And the Worst. Not many as you can see.
1. Rambo III - (Rambo goes to Afghanistan and Terrorizes Art Malik lookalikes with a scary giant Russian Helicopter)
2. Earnest Saves Christmas - (I think I liked this as a kid but now I watch it and it's just Stu)
3. Poltergeist 3 - (Bad acting, stupid plot and all Tom Skerritt’s mustache can think about is Oates with Nancy Allen)
Harry: " Whoa, Jesus, Check out the butt on that one."

Lloyd: "He must work out."
