Michael Moore's The Big One. (Michael Moore is The Big One)

Postby TheStuboy » March 8th, 2005, 2:07 am

Just got done viewing this flick thanks to the Blockbuster Online service. This is the second movie I have received from the service.

Michael Moore's Third film coming after Roger and Me and TV nation is "The Big One."

At times the film is confusing, but it pretty much stays on track through out.

The basic point of this film is that corporations are evil, and they lay off workers when they are really doing well profit wise. This pisses Michael off, whom is on a book tour promoting his book "Downsize This." He gets to try to talk to major corporation leaders from Proctor & Gamble to Nike. Most of the corporations don't let him talk to the CEOs and (spoiler) he almost gets arrested. This was a hilarious part of the film as the security gaurd denied everything that the people inside actually said but they had it all on tape so Michael was like, lets look at the tape.

This isn't as powerful as Michaels other films like Bowling for Columbine or Fahrenheit 911. I have yet to see Rodger and Me so I don't know that one.
Michael is younger and has different glasses in this film, he also looks just as fat as ever.

I was entertained by this film, and surprised what the idiot Nike CEO said, but you'll just have to see how greedy that prick really is when you rent "The Big One."

Make sure you watch the ending credits completely for extra stuff.

3 out of 4 stars. Freddie Farz Jr. Reviewed 3/7/05.

Blockbuster has Casino on "Very Long Wait" and Goodfellas is still in my queue about 5-6 movies down. Haven't seen them yet.

I remember renting The Big One last year while I was still in Laramie and enjoying it. Like Stuboy said, it is not as good as Bowling for Columbine or Farenheit 911 but it is probably his third best movie. I have also seen Roger and Me which was ok but not as entertaining.

Anyway, for all those conservatives out there, Michael Moore is the voice for the little guy even though he is a big guy himself. He isn't afraid to expose the coruptness of our society and take the CEO's of big companies and expose them for the hessians they are. Of course people need to run businesses to fuel the economy and GWB's pockets but damnit, you can do it with some ethics too and take care of your employees who do most of the work for you and deserve a pat on the back, or on the butt if your Michael Jackson..eeheee...OWWWW...Shamon. I still remember the part in this movie where Michael Moore is signing some books at night and something is going on that gets all these people riled up and it turns out to be nothing. Michael Moore's humor is pretty good too.

Overall, I would give "The Big One" about 3 out of 4 stars because damnit it's always good to cheer for the little guy. Even when he says "Hea".
Harry: " Whoa, Jesus, Check out the butt on that one."

Lloyd: "He must work out."

...and Michael Moore does a hilarious impression of Bobby Dylan very well in this movie. I gave it an extra half star for that.
